The Alton Eastbrooke and Wooteys Residents’ Association regrets that it is
unable to continue to sponsor the Community bus service beyond the end of
August 2019. It has worked with Community First to provide a service on
Tuesday afternoons and on Saturdays since April and has carried nearly 400
passengers. The service has been very useful to the people in our wards.
However the number of people using the service is much lower than we need
to make the service viable, and is less than we expected. Consequently we are
unable to make the service permanent.

The Association would like to thank its loyal passengers, Community First,
Radian Housing, Alton Lions, the Alton Society, SpecSavers, Wildly Upbeat
Printers, Bookers and Bolton, the individual well-wishers and EHDC for their
financial and practical support that has enabled us to provide the service.
Our experience will be valuable in assessing whether it may be possible to
introduce an Alton Community bus service. We are hopeful that a future town-
wide service may be provided, but a lot of factors need to be considered.
