Alton residents can help shape a new community facility in the town through a survey being run by East Hampshire District Council and Alton Town Council.

The Development Brief for the Coors Brewery site identifies an opportunity for a new community facility, and residents now have the chance to have their say on what form that could take.

The engagement period will include a survey and four public events, to give every resident the opportunity to take part.

The four public events are:

Wednesday, 21 March, 7pm, Alton College, at the Annual Electors Meeting
Saturday, 24 March, 10am – 2pm, Alton Assembly Rooms
Tuesday, 27 March, 11am – 2pm, Community Centre
Friday, 13 April, 1pm – 4pm, Alton Town Council Offices

The events have been arranged at different times of day, on different days of the week and at different venues to give every resident the best chance of coming along.

Cllr Guy Shepherd, EHDC Portfolio Holder for Regeneration Delivery, said: “The Coors Brewery site is a key location in the centre of town and it’s vital we get these facilities right.

“I hope the people of Alton will come out and let us know what they would like to see there.

“Whether people feel that a new facility is needed here or whether this site would be best used for something else altogether, they should come along and have their say.”

Cllr Dean Philips, Mayor of Alton, said: “We welcome this opportunity for the people of Alton to be able to have their say in shaping the design of the community facility element of this key town centre site.

“CALA Homes is keen to hear from residents what they would like and we are pleased to be able to facilitate that through this engagement process.”

At the events, residents will be able to check out the early issues and fill out a survey. The survey will also be online and open until Monday 16 April.

The online survey will be open from the evening of 21 March on the following link:https://tinyurl.com/AltonCommunity
