Alton Eastbrooke and Wooteys Residents' Association are delighted to announce the launch of our new community bus service starting on Saturday 27th April. It will run on a circular route every half hour on Tuesday afternoons between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m., and on Saturdays between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. It will link the Manor, Wooteys and Eastbrooke estates with Alton Town Centre, Sainsbury’s, Aldi, and (on Tuesdays) Alton Health Centre.

The bus can carry a wheelchair, but wheelchair journeys must be booked in advance by telephoning Community First on 01420 475759 as there is only one wheelchair space and the vehicle has to be set up for it. Wheelchair passengers should book on Thursday for the Saturday service, and on Friday for the Tuesday service. The timetable is available now here

Stagecoach bus services will continue as they are. The new Tuesday afternoon service will enable residents to travel in to town on their existing service 9, spend a much longer time in town, and then return on the community bus.

This service is operated on our behalf by Community First and is entirely supported by donations from organisations and individuals. As the service cannot accept bus passes or charge fares under current rules, we would like to ask that passengers donate £1 per journey to maintain and develop this service.

Finally, AEWRA would like to say a huge thank you to all the organisations and individuals whose generosity and hard work has enabled the launch of this much needed service to come to fruition.
