Residents here in the Eastern side of town will have noticed (particularly due to lockdown reducing traffic noise) a certain pitch of noise coming 24/7 from the industrial estate.

After some investigation this was narrowed down to Alton Sewage Treatment Works and we got in contact with Thames Water to see if there was something that was malfunctioning.

I’ve spoken to the site manager at Alton STW who confirmed the noise is coming from a faulty aerator on site. This was due to be changed this week but, unfortunately, high winds meant the crane could not perform the lift safely. The changeover is now planned for 19 November; however, this is dependent on good weather allowing to work proceed safely.

So all being well we are going to have a resolution soon!
